Writing Workshops and the Creative Thesis
The creative-writing workshops are small-group classes (no more than 15
students) in fiction, poetry, creative non-fiction, screen writing, and
special topics such as the novella. MFA students share their work
with their class and meet regularly for individual conferences with
their instructors. Students also hold open readings of their work each
semester.
The creative thesis
may be the draft of a novel or memoir, a collection of short stories, a
script, or a collection of poems. Students work with a director and two
additional readers from the faculty as they complete their theses, and
they present their work at an oral examination.
