SHORT FICTION CATEGORY
(5000-word limit, no more than 20 pp. double-spaced)
The Brenda L. Smart Grand Prize: $500

SHORT-SHORT STORY CONTEST
(1200-word limit, no more than 5 pp. double-spaced)
The Brenda L. Smart Award for Short Fiction:  $250

RULES: 
1) You must be an N.C. resident
2) You may not have had a published book.
3) The story may not have been published elsewhere.
4)  You may not be a previous winner (sorry!)
5) Previous finalists must submit new stories.
6) You may not be a professor in the UNC system; TAs,
grad students and adjuncts are okay, however.
7) All entries must be double-spaced and typed.
