GENERAL GUIDELINES
Free Verse is a bi-annual electronic journal which focuses
on publishing the finest free verse being written today. Free
Verse is looking for eclectic, sophisticated, accomplished
poetry possessed by a sense of poetic intelligence and power. Free Verse is especially interested in non-narrative lyrics--but
we will also consider narrative poems. Free Verse has some
preference for shorter poems--one to two pages--but we are happy
to consider longer work. While the journal aims to provide a forum
for the wide variety of poetic experiments and work in various
poetic traditions in the United States today, Free Verse welcomes submissions from outside North America. Translations
are welcome.
Free Verse also invites unsolicited reviews of books of
contemporary poetry. These should be about 1,000-1,500 words in
length. All written work should be accompanied by a SASE. For
submisions outside the U.S, an International Reply Coupon is desirable.
