The Robbie Knott Memorial Fellowship

Named for Dr. Robbie Knott, a graduate of our MA program, this $1,000 award is limited to second-year female MA students who have completed their first year with A-level GPAs. An application statement and a combination of academic merit and financial need are necessary. Fellows are invited to apply in the spring or summer before their third semester of full-time study.

USGA Travel Grant

The University Graduate Student Association (USGA) offers a one-time $250 travel grant for participating in scholarly conferences. For information, see: http://ugsa.ncsu.edu/. Scroll down to "Welcome" and click on "Funding and Reimbursement."

Tutoring

There are some opportunities to earn money by tutoring both inside the department and elsewhere on the campus. The Campus Writing and Speaking Program, directed by Dr. Chris Anson in the English department, offers some employment opportunities. For more information, see http://www2.chass.ncsu.edu/CWSP/header/gpi.html. Other tutoring options are available at the undergraduate tutorial center. See http://www.ncsu.edu/tutorial_center/index.html.

Other Employment

Occasionally, and unpredictably, opportunities for part-time or freelance work are brought to the attention of the DGP and other English faculty. Information about these opportunities is disseminated to the listservs, posted on the graduate bulletin board, and sometimes distributed in graduate student mailboxes.
