Play
Pretend
The small
children in the playhouse out back
Are playing
pretend with dollies and guns
That squirt. When the bully comes to attack,
The small girl
cries, and her soldier boy runs
After him into
the old neighbor’s yard-
Where no other
child dares to wander.
The small soldier
boy hits the bully hard
But the bully
yells and goes absconder
When the old man
comes. He tells the mother
Of soldier boy to
punish her child
For everyone to
see. It can’t smother
His pride because
the small girl had smiled
Her thank
you. He continues to defend
And fight for
her, while the world plays pretend.
