We enjoy making history at Obsidian; the special double issue focused on writers of African descent who claim North Carolina as home provides a glimpse into contemporary African desent writing that is, in itself, a historical event. Readings from this issue are still being scheduled.

Obsidian Calls for Review Editors and A Multimedia Artist

Obsidian is looking for a cadre of scholars in African and African Diaspora Literary Studies to serve as review editors. Interested scholars should send their vitae to Obsidian@ncsu.edu using “Review Editor” in the subject line.

Obsidian also seeks a multimedia artist from Africa or the African Diaspora to serve as our featured Obsi–Artist for Spring 2012.  The selected artist will have their art featured on the cover of Obsidian. As the featured artist, you will also have a link on the Obsidian website, enabling you to reach both a national and an international audience.

To apply to become the featured Obsi-Artist:

• Submit your work in a .jpeg format and send it to Obsidian via e-mail obsidian@ncsu.edu
• The e-mail should include the subject line “Obsidian Art Submission”
• All artwork must deal with Africa and the African Diaspora
• Featured artwork will be shown on the Obsidian website for a 6 months period.
• We welcome both established and rising artists
