World Literature LIT

The LIT curriculum combines the study of English and American literature with the study of foreign-language literatures.
In addition to meeting the CHASS, Free Elective, and GEP Requirements (see CHASS BA and GEP (097) Requirements), students in the LIT curriculum must satisfy the following requirements in the major.

- All courses satisfying Department Requirements, except ENG 350, must be taken for a letter grade.
- Students must earn at least a C- for courses to count towards their major.
- Departmental Distribution: Each LIT student must take at least 12 hours of courses in FL, CL, GRK, LAT, or cross-listed (ENG/FL) courses. Each LIT student must take at least 18 hours of ENG or cross-listed (ENG/FL) courses.
- 200-Level Courses: LIT students may take no more than four 200-level courses to satisfy requirements for the major At least one course in GRPs 464-472 must be taken at the 200 level.
The following courses can satisfy a requirement only when the content is appropriate to that requirement: ENG 394, ENG 420, ENG 460, ENG 491, ENG 497, ENG 539, FL 495. See your adviser or the Director of Advising.
