Biography

Occupation: User Experience Design Engineer at IBM

Before returning to graduate school, I worked as an Information Technologist at the Gregg Museum of Art & Design at NC State University. I started graduate school and quickly became focused specifically on a concentration in the user experience aspect of technical communication. In my final year of the MS program, I accepted a 3 month coop position in User Experience with IBM, in their Rational Software Group. At the end of this initial coop, they extended me through the end of the school year and then offered me a full-time position as a User Experience Design Engineer with Rational in Boston, MA. Thus, I completed my MS in Technical Communication in Spring of 2009 and moved to MA to begin my career in UX with IBM. I am still with the company and am very happy with how my career is progressing. At IBM, I provide UX support for Rational's Collaborative Lifecycle Management solutions in addition to Rational System Architect, a large enterprise architecture solution. I also provide assistance with various User Technologies' collaborative work solutions in addition to consulting with User Assistance and Learning teams on UX-related issues as they encounter them in their work. I have a wife, Alison, a son, Julian(6), and a stepdaughter (Taylor). We all live in Boston as a big happy family. Personal interests include professional cycling, riding my own bicycle, tinkering and fixing things, reading, music (I was a professional musician for many years, so I prefer to play it), and spending tons and tons of time with my family.
