Eligibility
To be accepted into the Certificate in Professional Writing program, applicants must meet the following requirements.
- You must have completed the first year of college English or the equivalent (credit, transfer credit, or credit by exam).*
- You must enroll as a Non-Degree Studies (NDS) student and should not be concurrently seeking a degree at NCSU during the time of certificate courses.**
Next, applicants must submit an online form to the director of Professional Writing to begin the enrollment process. Once accepted, enroll as an NDS student by the deadline for NDS course registration.
*If you completed the prerequisite English courses during a bachelor's degree program, but are no longer seeking a degree, you qualify for admission to the certificate program.
**The Division of Lifelong Education in the UGS (undergraduate studies) and PBS (post-baccalaureate studies) classifications both fall under NDS.
