The 2013 NC State Poetry Contest
Our Guest Judge Michael Wiegers, executive editor of Copper Canyon Press, has spoken, and the winners of this year's statewide contest are below.
I hope you will join us for the presentation of prizes, some comments from Michael Wiegers, and a reading from Copper Canyon's newest poet, Natalie Diaz. This will take place Wednesday, April 3rd, at 7:30 p.m. in the Caldwell Hall Lounge (on Hillsborough Street on the NC State campus).
Wiegers has edited award-winning collections by poets such as C.D. Wright, W.S. Merwin, Ruth Stone, Ted Kooser, and Michael Dickman. He additionally serves as Poetry Editor for Narrative Magazine. Natalie Diaz is an enrolled member of the Gila River Indian Tribe. Her first poetry collection, When My Brother Was an Aztec, was published by Copper Canyon Press in 2012.
