Documentary nominated for award
First Language — The Race to Save Cherokee, produced by Neal Hutcheson and Danica Cullinan, has received an award nomination for Best Public Service from the American Indian Film Festival. First Language will screen in this year’s festival in San Francisco on November 3. The American Indian Film Festival is the world’s longest running exposition of films by and about native people.
The documentary will also be presented in this year’s Red Nation Film Festival in Los Angeles on November 17. The official premiere will take place at the NC Museum of History in Raleigh on November 21.
First Language is the newest documentary from Walt Wolfram’s NC Language and Life Project.
