Kelsey Virginia Downs Dufresne participated in the International Whitman Week, held in New York City in late May.

Esther Kentish presented “Bridging the Gap: The Dichotomy between Neuropsychology and Data Visualization” at the Oxford Neuroscience Symposium, held on March 20.

On March 30, two students present at Anguish: An Interdisciplinary Graduate Conference:

• Marissa Morgan, “Azealia Banks vs Cardi B: The Great Debate, Evolved”

In May, two students presented at the 2019 American Literature Association Conference in Boston:

• Jessica Dionne, “The Dean and the Father of the Black Magic Aesthetic: Langston Hughes and LeRoi Jones (Amiri Baraka)”
• Kelsey Virginia Downs Dufresne, “Langston Hughes as Artist: Tracing the Literary Word in the Artistic Medium”

Students in the department’s Technical Communication Association, led by president Esther Kentish, successfully hosted its annual unconference. SpeedCon 2019 — Diversified was held on April 19. JASON SWARTS gave the keynote, titled “How We Make Technical Knowledge.”
