English Department Internship Program
“Before the internship, my 'relevant' work experience was babysitting and working as a vendor at SeaWorld. I feel empowered and better prepared for a job in the real work force.”
Seth Styers '07, Former Intern at Triangle Down Syndrome Network
Welcome
The English Department's Internship Program provides students with an opportunity to get workplace experience and college credit at the same time, while helping them to develop as professionals. Most of the information on these pages pertains to undergraduates only. Graduate students interested in work experience may want to consider taking ENG522 Writing in Nonacademic Settings.

The internship consists of a workplace practicum of 120 hours a semester and a 3-credit-hour course (ENG350). For most students, the course will count as a free elective. Your adviser can help you determine if the course will count toward your major. The course will count toward all the listed minors.

The internship program helps students get on-the-job training, employers find gifted students who need professional experience, and the university understand how our work in the classroom complements experience in the workplace.
