Carolyn Miller wins award, presents at conference

Carolyn Miller received the Rhetoric Society of America’s 2016 Cheryl Geisler Award for Outstanding Mentor. She was nominated by current and former doctoral students, with supporting letters from NC State faculty Vicki Gallagher (Department of Communication) and Brad Mehlenbacher (College of Education). The citation says, “Professor Miller is recognized for her considerable energy and care in mentoring students and colleagues not only at her own institution, but also at other institutions—indeed, throughout the world. Her individual mentoring attends to the full range of issues associated with career development and she has worked to build infrastructure to support career development for the field as a whole.”

In May, Miller presented “Genos and Eidos in Aristotelian Genre Theory” at the 17^th Biennial Rhetoric Society of America Conference, held in Atlanta, GA. 

Also at the RSA conference, Miller served as the discussion leader for the Research Network, a forum that allows junior scholars to share work-in-progress papers.
