CHRIS ANSON

Chris Anson’s chapter “The Multidimensional Variables of Writing Program Development and Sustainability” was published in English and Spanish in the volume Centros y Programas en Latinoamérica: Opciones Teóricas y Pedagógicas Para la Enseñanza de la Escritura Disciplinar [The Field of Teaching Disciplinary Writing in Latin America: Trajectories and Future Directions], edited by Estela Inés Moyano and Margarita Vidal Lizama.

With Jonathan Marine, Federico Navarro, and Paul Rogers, Anson edited a special issue of Literatua y Linguistica containing essays from the 2021 Writing Across Borders conference.

On March 9, he gave a campus-wide address titled “Amazement and Trepidation: Uses and Abuses of AI-Based Text Generation Systems and Implications for Student Writing Across Disciplines” at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota, followed by a faculty workshop.

DAUN DAEMON

The Magnolia Review published Daun Daemon’s poems “When all the world has gone to hell” and “Parkour” (previously published in Foxglove Journal).

Paul Fyfe participated in the NEH-funded Legal Literacies for Text Data Mining — Cross-Border (LLTDM-X) Round Table Series organized at UC Berkeley (virtual).

MARSHA GORDON

Marsha Gordon’s new book, Becoming the Ex-Wife: The Unconventional Life and Forgotten Writings of Ursula Parrott, will be published on April 25. Two local launch events have been scheduled so far:

• The first is a conversation with Belle Boggs at 6 p.m. on April 25 at So & So Books in Raleigh (Facebook invitation).
• The second is a screening of the film adaptation of Parrott’s first novel, The Divorcee (1930), for which Normal Shearer won a Best Actress Academy Award, on April 26 at 7 p.m. at The Cary Theater, followed by a conversation with Tift Merritt about the book and film. Tickets ($5) are on sale now.

CATHERINE MAINLAND

On March 9, Catherine Mainland presented on “Taking the Online TH!NK Pilot Program into the Classroom” at the NC State Conference on Faculty Excellence.

CAITLIN STUCKEY

Caitlin Stuckey and Carlos Goller (Biotechnology Program) won Outstanding Poster at the NC State Conference on Faculty Excellence for “Podcasts in the Classroom: Beyond Passive Listening.”
