DAUN DAEMON

Daun Daemon’s poem “Between the Sheets” was posted on Dime Show Review on August 31.

Daemon’s short story “Goodbye Ghost” was posted in volume 13.4 of the Same on September 25.

PAUL FYFE

Paul Fyfe published “Scale” in the keywords issue of Victorian Literature and Culture, volume 46.3-4.

He gave an invited lecture, “Past and Presentism: How Computers See Illustrated Periodicals,” at the Scholars’ Lab at the University of Virginia.

MARSHA GORDON

On October 24, Marsha Gordon will introduce and discuss her short documentary, “Rendered Small,” at the Gregg Museum of Art. The collectors who are the subject of the documentary will be on hand with examples from their collection. The free event begins at 6 p.m. and is open to the public.

She introduced and led discussions at two events at the Alamo Drafthouse: “Women Make Educational Films” for A/V Geeks on September 18 and Ida Lupino’s The Hitch-Hiker (1953) for the Alamo Drafthouse Film Club on September 17.

Gordon’s latest “Movies on the Radio” show on WUNC’s The State of Things, which aired on September 26, focused on films about art and artists.

Kyesha Jennings published several articles in the Indy Week recently:
“Hip-Hop Is Entering a Golden Era in an Entirely Different Field: Academia”  (September 12), “Hopscotch 2018: Our Hip-Hop Recommendations”  (September 5), “In the Diaspora Festival at UNC and Aural Futures at Duke, Independent African-American Filmmakers Shape the Future” (September 12), and “Art of Cool and the Black Wall Street Homecoming Highlight Black Excellence” (September 26).

DORIANNE LAUX

Dorianne Laux will read and give workshops on October 4 at Ithaca College, Ithaca, NY; on October 5 at YMCA of Greater Syracuse, Syracuse, NY; and from October 25–27 at the Ocean State Writing Conference, Kingston, RI. 

Her new collection, Only as the Day Is Long: New and Selected Poems, will be published in January, 2019, with W.W. Norton.  

CAROLYN R. MILLER

Landmark Essays on Rhetorical Genre Studies, a collection Carolyn Miller co-edited with Amy J. Devitt, was recently published by Routledge.

MARIA ROUPHAIL

Maria Rouphail’s review essay “Andrea Hollander’s Blue Mistaken for Sky was published in the September edition of Pedestal Magazine.

TIM STINSON

Tim Stinson’s essay “Of Dwarves and Dinosaurs: Moving on from mouvance in Digital Editions” appeared in Meeting the Medieval in a Digital World, an anthology published by ARC Humanities Press.

JOHN WALL

John Wall received the College of Humanities and Social Sciences Outstanding Humanist Award for 2018 at the College’s opening reception on September 4.
