Marsha Gordon publishes article, gives talks
Marsha Gordon’s article, “The Other Side of the Tracks: Nontheatrical Film History, Pre-Rebellion Watts, and Felicia,” co-written with Allyson Nadia Field, appeared in the latest issue of Cinema Journal (February 2016).
On January 27, Gordon discussed food films for her monthly “Movies on the Radio” segment on WUNC’s The State of Things.
She also appeared on The State of Things on February 10 to discuss her five-person team project at Flanders Gallery, “Pubic Displays,” based on Thomas Edison’s 1896 May Irwin–John C. Rice kiss film, which also received coverage from the North Carolina Arts Council, the News & Observer, Walter, WUNC, ABC–11, and Triangle Downtowner.
She introduced a screening of Trouble in Paradise at Flanders Gallery in Raleigh on February 6.
Gordon gave two lectures on “Film Noir,” one at Durham’s North Regional Library on February 10 and the other at Cameron Village Library on February 13.
She gave an invited talk on “Women in Film History” to the Raleigh Professional Woman’s Club on February 11.
