2013 Faculty Awards

Faculty from the College of Humanities and Social Sciences were recently recognized for outstanding accomplishments in teaching, advising, research and engagement at an awards ceremony and reception in Caldwell Lounge. "As we mark our 50th year as a distinct college, we continue to come into our own, as is reflected in our faculty's accomplishments," said CHASS Dean Jeff Braden. "The scholarship, commitment, and passion represented by these awards demonstrate the breadth of excellence in our faculty."

Exploring the Magic of ‘Life After Life’

After a 17 year hiatus, storytelling virtuoso Jill McCorkle has published her sixth novel, “Life After Life.” McCorkle, a professor in NC State’s Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing program, says that the novel was "a long time coming."

NC State University professors of English Devin and Marsha Orgeron were determined to shed more light on the educational films of the 20th century as they edited "Learning with the Lights Off." In the process, they have earned the prestigious Society for Cinema and Media Studies’ 2013 award for Best Edited Collection.
