Wilhite Selected As A Finalist for University’s 3MT Competition

Congratulations to Angela Wilhite, an MFA in our program, who has been selected as one of the finalists for the university’s 3MT (three-minute thesis) competition

This competition asks graduate students to deliver a short presentation that sums up their graduate research. Details about the competition here.

Angela will be presenting about her MFA thesis—a novel set in an academy for child actors in Monterrey, Mexico that becomes the site of a violent clash between a drug cartel and a U.S.-backed military operative—as well as her  research into the legends of child soldiers in historic battles of Mexico and current-day abduction and recruitment of child soldiers as a result of the War on Drugs.

The contest will take place on Tuesday, October 29 from 3 – 5 pm at the Hunt Library’s Duke Energy Hall

Congrats to Angela, especially for cracking through in a competition that has been dominated by STEMers. Let’s all cheer her on Oct. 29!
